REAL TIME WATER QUALITY BIOMONITORING

THE SOLUTION TO PROTECT ALL AQUATIC ENVIRONMENTS

Connected sentinel oysters (or any other bivalve mollusc) to monitor water quality. Biomonitoring is the use of living things to measure effects on the environment.

A sustainable solution for industrials, cities and agencies to protect the aquatic environment and the biodiversity across many areas.

The importance of protecting the marine environment is no longer in question.

Rapidly detecting chemical pollution, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, is essential to reduce our impact, our environmental footprint and to protect the biodiversity of the oceans. To do this, classical chemical analysis is not feasible due to its complexity and its consequent cost.

There are too many chemicals in the environment, too many cocktail effects, too many problems with low concentrations… To remedy this, the solution is to move away from searching for products, and towards searching for and understanding the effects on the aquatic environment and living organisms.

The question is no longer “What is in the water?” but “Is there anything toxic in the water?

The molluSCAN-eye® solution answers this need.

THE molluSCAN-eye® SOLUTION

Connected molluscs to monitor water quality

molluSCAN-eye® IS A REAL TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH.

Thanks to oysters, mussels or scallops, our sustainable and educational solution offers industrials and institutions the possibility to monitor the impact of their activities on the aquatic environment 24/7. Through the well-being and behavior of these connected living animals, a daily health assessment of the aquatic environment is drawn up on the monitored site, without requiring other on-site maintenance.

A GROUP OF HEALTHY ANIMALS LIVE IN A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT.

In the form of colorful emoticons, trend curves and longitudinal profiles, our clients and partners examine the daily health of the environment they wish to monitor. These measurements can inform us if there is “something” disrupting the behavior, growth or biological rhythms of these bivalve mollusks.

Our technology is able to quickly detect silent, insidious pollution that cannot be seen, before it escalates into serious and very costly pollution.

IF THE QUALITY OF THE WATER IS AFFECTED, THE ANIMALS’ BEHAVIOR WILL BE MODIFIED AS WELL AND SO, THE ALERT GIVEN!

FROM THE NORTH POLE TO THE TROPICS molluSCAN-eye®

The molluSCAN-eye® solution is intended for all industrial companies wishing to evaluate and control their impact on the aquatic environment (ports, oil platforms, refineries, construction, offshore wind farms, wastewater treatment plants, chemical industries, etc.) as well as for all institutions in charge of managing natural areas or ports.

It represents the possibility for improved monitoring of aquatic environments because it is easy to set up, inexpensive compared to chemical analyses and does not require human intervention once deployed on site.

Moreover, thanks to the easily understandable information and results available on the computer and smartphone, molluSCAN-eye® is particularly effective for communicating with stakeholders and the public, all over the world!

molluSCAN-eye® Where it all started

Our solution was created in 2006 at the Arcachon marine station, in one of the laboratories of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the University of Bordeaux. Today, the start-up molluSCAN-eye® has a sustainable and business oriented long term vision.
